Seit ihrer Gründung in 2010 haben Toy sich den Ruf einer geschmackssicheren und virtuosen Band von höchster Integrität erspielt, die von Anfang an auf eigene Rechnung gespielt und stets einen Bogen um jede Trendwelle gemacht hat. Ihr atmosphärischer Sound, irgendwo zwischen Psychedelia, Shoegaze und Krautrock angesiedelt, steht eindeutig in der Tradition des Indie-Gitarren-Underground, bleibt dabei aber immer eigenständig. Die Band um Sänger, Gitarrist und Frontmann Tom Dougall ist mit ihren bisherigen drei Alben ›Toy‹ (2012), ›Join The Dots‹ (2013) und ›Clear Shot‹ (2016) mehrfach weltweit getourt. THE BLACK ANGELS - Psychedelic Rock-Quintett mit exklusiver Show in HamburgNach zwei äußerst erfolgreichen Deutschland-Konzerten in Köln und Berlin im letzten Jahr, kommt die texanische Band für eine Show in Hamburg zurück."Wenn du etwas singen willst, dann sollte es besser etwas Wichtiges sein", sagt Sänger und Bassist Alex Maas von THE BLACK ANGELS. Dieser Ethos legt den Grundstein für das im April 2017 erschienene, sechste Studioalbum "Death Song" der Neo-Psych-Rocker aus Austin. "Death Song" spiegelt die Ungewissheit, die die nordamerikanische Bevölkerung vor und während dem Präsidentschafts-Wahlkampf plagte, exakt wieder und die Songs formen nun den unheimlichen Soundtrack zum modernen US-Klima der Spaltung und Angst vor der kommenden Zeit. "Wir beobachten nur", kommentiert Gitarrist Christian Bland. "Wir reflektieren das, was wir in der Welt sehen, wie ein Spiegel. Hoffentlich hilft das der Menschheit, den Verstand und die Augen für die Probleme zu öffnen, die für uns wichtig sind."Produziert wurde "Death Song", ohne Zweifel die politischste Platte der Band seit ihrem Debütalbum "Passover" in 2006, von Phil Ek (Father John Misty, Fleet Foxes, The Shins). Ihre Live-Auftritte werden von der New York Times gelobt: "Sie [The Black Angels] spielen Psychedelic Rock als hätten die 1960er nie geendet. Und sie sind absolute Meister darin.".Ende August kann man sich von der fantastischen Live-Performance von The Black Angels überzeugen lassen.
